By January 1999 RtVik-Fever descended on Los Angeles. The Masonic Hall around the corner from New Dwarka was rented for the day and all the RtVik-Generals came to town to declare their ultimatums. Prior to this, they evaded the operative question: “Is the RtVik agenda intended to replace the traditional Guru-Disciple tradition practiced in ISKCON?” OR: Is the RtVik agenda intended to provide the initial steppingstone for candidates to become members of ISKCON and then take formal initiation at a later point in time?”
At this gathering, it was made clear that the RtVik agenda was a revolution. Its purpose was to dismantle all the existing relationships that had already become established between the Gurus and their disciples and replace the steppingstone tradition with a RtVik-Charade Initiation. This show included the best of pomp, hubris, sophistry, and pseudo-Gaudia-philosophy. The only thing lacking was the Radio City Rockettes!
