After reading the Bhagavada Gita As It Is in 1973, I realized that the proper place for me to engage my efforts was as a devotee of Lord Krishna. The problem I faced was that I was enrolled as a student at the University Of Kansas studying a four year degree in Industrial Design and my parents had made it quite clear that I was expected to complete that degree! The other significant problem was that the closest Krishna temple to Lawrence Kansas was at least 300 miles away! Two years went by as I began reading the Srimad Bhagavatam and my frustration only increased. I was praying intensely that Krishna please intervene because I wanted so earnestly to be accepted as a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. Then in October 1975 I was contacted by the Radha Damodara Traveling Sankirtan Party. They were coming to Kansas and they wanted me to help them set up programs on campus. I did that for a week… and when it was time for them to leave, I chose to leave with them. This video provides a narration of how that event changed my life forever.
