The Purpose of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is.
On several occasions Srila Prabhupada spelled out what the main purpose of the Gita was for. He did this because of the prevalence of Gitas that negate the personality of Godhead and the concept of devotional service. The Bhagavad Gita As It Is earns its title because it leads the reader to his eternal relationship with Krishna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whereas the majority of the others fail to present this objective.
There are a lot of complaints about how Srila Prabhupadas Gita has been changed but this meme asks: “Has any of these changes changed the essence of the Mac72 Gita.” Most of the biggest complainers can not provide any evidence of how the edited version changes the purpose of the Gita the way Srila Prabhupada defined it.

BGita Purpose
FOR THE RECORD:
BOTH the ORIGINAL unedited “Mac72” version and the edited “Current Academic” version of the BGAII should be published and sold by the BBT. This serves two essential purposes:
1. The “Mac72” version:
This is essential because it remains the last original unedited text that Srila Prabhupada spoke and lectured from while still in his manifest form.
This version will remain the benchmark for historians and future editors as the language evolves. Publishing the Mac72 edition of the Bhagavada Gita As It Is fulfills the instructions not to change anything.
2. The “Current Academic”
This edition is also absolutely essential to ensure that the general public will be able to understand the essential/purpose of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is. (To restore ones lost relationship with the Supreme Personality Of Godhead Lord Sri Krishna) To ensure full transparency it would also be necessary to have a website dedicated to providing a thorough explanation for the applied edits. That may be accomplished by discrete, super scripted, foot-notations, or perhaps a side-by side page comparison.
Publishing this version of the Bhagavada Gita As It Is fulfills Srila Prabhupadas desire to make sure his books were as first class as we can possibly product them. It allows for editorial clarity as the language changes in the future, as well as a variety of marketing tricks used by the major publishers of the classics.
“Prabhupada said that if there is one mistake in one book, then you spoil the whole book. Murder the whole book. So also besides Sanskrit errors, there have been many, many English errors also, which; are very obvious, just like these two above-mentioned errors, so Prabhupada has been emphasizing lately about the great need for making our books free from errors” – From Pradyumna dasa – SL_720919_A
